Geneva, located in Fillmore County, is the home to 2,226 people.  Located in Southeast Nebraska, Geneva is the county seat, served by U.S. Highway 81 and Nebraska State Highway 41.  Geneva is located 50 miles east of Hastings, NE; 65 miles west of Lincoln, NE; 70 miles southeast of Grand Island, NE; and 35 miles north of the Kansas border.

Geneva's roots go back to 1871 when the first post office was established.  The town of Henry was originally platted to become the county seat, but it was decided by a vote of the county residents that the county seat be located in the center of the county.  The town's name was suggested by the teenage daughter of the owner of the farm upon which the town was built.  Geneva, Illinois had been their former home.  The present courthouse, built in 1893 and listed on the National Register of Historical Places, is located in the center of Geneva covering a two block area.
