The City of Geneva water system is supplied by five wells having an average water level of 100 feet. The system has a combined maximum capacity of 3,443 gallons per minute and an average storage capacity of 300,000 gallons. The average daily summer demand is 1,100,000 gallons, and the historic peak daily demand is 1,524,000 gallons. The static pressure runs 70 lbs per square inch. The average water temperature is 54 degrees. The hardness is 19 grams. The quality of water in Geneva does not necessitate a water treatment plant.
The City of Geneva calculates the water rates for inside the City limits by taking the rate of $ .70 multiplied by 100 cubic feet of water plus the flat fee of $7.50. For example, if you used 100 cubic feet of water then you would take 1 multiplied by $.70 plus 7.50 flat rete. Your total water bill would be $8.200 plus tax. For outside City limits the rate is doubled. So if you use 100 cubic feet of water then you would take 1 multiplied by $1.40 plus the flat fee of $15.00.
Inside City limits rates: $7.50 plus $ .60 per 100 cubic feet of water
Outside City limits rates: $15.00 plus $1.20 per 100 cubic feet of water
The City of Geneva operates a SBR treatment plant. Built in 2006, the plant has a daily treatment capacity of 350,000 gallons. The average daily treatment flow is 250,000 gallons and the historic peak treated discharge is 350,000 gallons.
The City of Geneva calculates the sewer consumption every year based on the residential customer’s average monthly water usage for the months of January, February, and March. The new average is applied in the April billing. The sewer rate is $16.20 for the flat fee plus $2.50 per 100 cubic feet of water. For new residential customers, they receive the City’s average consumption of 600. For commercial customers the sewer rates are based on their monthly water usage.
Example: January water usage: 200 New sewer consumption: 300
February water usage: 300
March water usage: 400
The April sewer bill would be: 3 times $2.50 plus $16.20= $23.70 (not including tax)
Their hours are Monday thru Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. The Street Department can be reached at: (402) 759-3109.
